Nagasaki

After having escaped Kim Jong Un we have reached Nagasaki. It is another calm, warm day although cloudy. The seas remain flat and it is very smooth sailing.

Before we can go ashore we have to pass through Japan immigration. It is a shambles, we are given a 9.30 time to meet and be processed. It is after 10.30 before we are through and can head off. We go back to our cabin and get organised and head off at 11. We plan to go to the peace park and and the surrounds of ground zero, including the atomic bomb museum. We take two trams to get there and it is very easy, although very crowded on the tram with fellow cruise passengers.

It is a very moving experience and you wonder how people can be so cruel and unthinking about the aftermath. It was particularly annoying and upsetting when a group of Americans took photos smiling and laughing while standing on the monument - no respect. 

Nagasaki is surrounded by hills with houses creeping up the hillsides. It is a beautiful city.

We return to the ship just before 3 and enjoy a beer and hamburger.

Tomorrow we head for Miyazaki.
